10 Days – 2 Songs

Standard

2 Songs

Craaaa-aaap. This one’s gonna be hard.

2. “Smile” by Uncle Kracker

For some reason this one makes me… wait for it… smile. ROTFL

It’s a sweet song, and to me sings like a lullaby to the one you love. I can’t help but enjoy it.

1. Trip Around the Sun by Martina McBride & Jimmy Buffett

I listen to this one every year on my birthday… it reminds me that life is short, and we should spend more time enjoying instead of wallowing in our mistakes. Check it out – have you ever listened to the lyrics?

“Hear ’em singing Happy Birthday
Better think about the wish I made
This year gone by ain’t been a piece of cake
Every day’s a revolution
Pull it together and it comes undone
Just one more candle and a trip around the sun

Chorus:
I’m just hanging on while this old world keeps spinning
And it’s good to know it’s out of my control
If there’s one thing that I’ve learned from all this living
Is that it wouldn’t change a thing if I let go

No, you never see it coming
Always wind up wondering where it went
Only time will tell if it was time well spent
It’s another revelation
Celebrating what I should have done
With these souvenirs of my trip around the sun

(Chorus)

Yes, I’ll make a resolution
That I’ll never make another one
Just enjoy this ride on my trip around the sun
Just enjoy this ride …
Until it’s done

Okay, and I have to add this very last one in… I know it’s more than 2, but so what? It’s my blog, so I can cheat whenever I’d like.

I want to add: “You’re Still Innocent” by Taylor Swift.

I don’t care what yall say. I LURV Taylor Swift. You might not admire her singing, but anyone has to admit the girl can write an amazing song.

I guess you really did it this time
Left yourself in your warpath
Lost your balance on a tightrope
Lost your mind tryin’ to get it back

Wasn’t it easier in your lunchbox days?
Always a bigger bed to crawl into
Wasn’t it beautiful when you believed in everything?
And everybody believed in you?

It’s all right, just wait and see
Your string of lights are still bright to me
Oh, who you are is not what you’ve been
You’re still an innocent
You’re still an innocent

Did some things you can’t speak of
But at night you’ll live it all again
You wouldn’t be shattered on the floor now
If only you woulda seen what you know now, then

Wasn’t it easier in your firefly-catchin’ days?
When everything out of reach, someone bigger brought down to you
Wasn’t it beautiful runnin’ wild ’til you fell asleep?
Before the monsters caught up to you?

It’s all right, just wait and see
Your string of lights are still bright to me
Oh, who you are is not what you’ve been
You’re still an innocent
It’s okay, life is a tough crowd
32, and still growin’ up now
Who you are is not what you did
You’re still an innocent

Time turns flames to embers
You’ll have new Septembers
Everyone of us has messed up too
Lives change like the weather
I hope you remember
Today is never to late to
Be brand new

It’s all right, just wait and see
Your string of lights are still bright to me
Oh, who you are is not what you’ve been
You’re still an innocent
It’s okay, life is a tough crowd
32, and still growin’ up now
Who you are is not what you did
You’re still an innocent
You’re still an innocent

Lost your balance on a tightrope
It’s never too late to get it back

I think this whole process, this exercise of sharing things and putting numbers to them is influence by the moment… would I name completely different songs in six months? Perhaps.
